Tiny but mighty!  One of the strongest tools in your interview closing box.

I know, you are thinking the thank you email?

Little, easy to do, but one of the strongest tools in your interview closing tool box.

Here is what you are trying to convey with the Thank You email:

Thank you so much for sharing your time - seriously.  Someone thought enough of you to sit down and have this interview.  Thank them for this time now let’s show them that we used it well.  Start with reiterating goals for the role that you heard them state (not just what’s in the JD).

Write down 3 connection points that we didn’t mention in the interview or 3 points that we now have the time to dig into if they are worth bringing up again.  Quantify those points - I want to hear budgets, team sizes, outcomes, initiatives - whatever it was that's exciting about these connection points or case studies that you are presenting.  But 3 points about why you are perfect for this job.

Next, state 2-3 points about your passion for this job and what you will bring to it.  These are your closing statements  Quantify your value, really dig in and showcase what it is that you provide, what it is you provide that let’s this person know you are right for their role.

You are telling the interviewer that I hear you, I know what your pain points are, I have ideas for how I’m going to start to address them.  This is the value you get when you hire me!

Show them your passion - this is an opportunity to talk about anything you may have forgotten.  You did all this research, now it’s time to talk about a press release, an exciting achievement/direction in the company that you also want to go in. Here is your opportunity to drive that home.

To Recap:

3 points as to why you are the perfect person for this role.

A passion point or two about why you want this role.

Your Observations as to what is going on with their org and why this is a fit.

Let these people know you listened by recapping their goals.

Thank them for their time and show them how you can be that collaborative partner for that next open slot on their team.

All right, now hit send, that job is yours!
